So what does the 2006 season hold for you guys? How are you guys going to look? Any injuries, updates, predictions?

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

This year's team could either be our best in over 15 years, or more of the norm. We're pretty experienced, with 15 returning starters, but we have NO quarterback at the moment...or at least no one worthy of starting. Our starter from last season also pitches here at MO State, and got taken in the MLB Draft a few weeks back, but is holding out for a higher selection in next year's draft. So needless to say, he's decided to focus on baseball only.
Also, we've obviously gone from having one of the worst coaching staffs in the conference to having arguably one of the best in a matter of six months.
Overall, people around here are more excited about Bears football then they've been in quite awhile. It should be interesting to see what happens.
Top 5 Strengths
1. Linebacking Corps - Bears are extremely deep and experienced here, returning all 3 starters as well as a starter from '04 who was injured this past year. Also add in Jeron Poole, a recent transfer who was nearly signed by Alabama and Oregon.
2. Offensive Backfield- Bears return both the leader in yds per carry and rushing TDs (PJ Ikner and Michael Cooper)
3. Offensive Line- 4 out of 5 starters return from last year, including preseason conference 1st-teamer, Justin Williamson
4. Coaching Staff - Randy Ball regime out, Terry Allen in. For the first time in many years, our coaching staff will call plays with the intent to win rather than not to lose.
5. Defensive Secondary - Bears return both starting CBs and both Safeties
Top 5 Questions/Weaknesses
1. Wide Receiving Corps - Both starters have moved on from last season. Only two wideouts return who caught more than one pass last season. Not much experience, but A LOT of potential
2. Defensive Line - Bears lose half of last year's starting line that was 2nd worst in Gateway in rush defense (211 yards/game) and last in sacks (12).
3. Special Teams - Bears lose 2004 All-American placekicker Jon Scifres, who also served as the Punter. Leading kick and punt returners are gone as well.
4. Quarterbacks - Starting QB from last season was lost to baseball, Bears have signed former Washington State Cougar walk-on Garrett Congdon.
5. Coaching Staff - Although Terry Allen is a proven winner (at least in I-AA), this conference has changed quite a bit since he left ten years ago.
