Here's how I think it will pan out...
1.) UNI
2.) SIU
3.) WIU
4.) YSU
5.) MSU
6.) IlSU
7.) InSU
YSU nearly laid an egg in what would've been a HUGE loss at home to a winless Southern Utah team. WIU was pretty impressive, holding the Bears to their lowest point total since K State, and putting up over 500 yards on the ground. As bad as our defense is, that's still impressive. I think WIU is moreso of a team to reckon with than YSU, and may have a better chance to sneak in as a third Gateway playoff team. Everything else stays the same.
Thoughts?

YSU is out of the running for the playoffs at this point after losses to Ill State and UNI (by a total of six points). The margin for error is slim in this league. WIU would have to win out to get in.

Yep, it looks like we're a lock for only two playoff teams this year. On the upside, however, both teams could end up seeded. The crappy thing about the FCS and the playoff field is that if a conference like ours has two super-dominant teams, the other teams are automatically not going to get a shot, even though YSU and WIU are both teams that could make deep runs in the postseason.

I think the Leathernecks and Penguins could be competitive against anyone in the country, but will be sitting at home watching the playoffs. There's usually someone in our league in that position.
