Everyone in Fargo is looking forward to our game with the Leathernecks. I had thought we had played in the past but find no record of it. Apparently its a home/home with WIU coming to Fargo and the Fabulous Fargo Dome in 2008. Hopefully it will be a conferenc game!

North Dakota State and Western Illinois have agreed – but not signed – to a home-and-home contract for football.

From todays Fargo Forum:

"NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor said Western Kentucky’s departure from the Gateway Football Conference beginning next year paved the way for the two schools to play. Western Illinois is a Gateway member.

NDSU will most likely travel to Macomb, Ill., for 2007 and the Leathernecks would come to Fargo in 2008. It’s possible the 2008 game could be a league game since the Gateway has already contacted NDSU about possible conference membership.

The Western Illinois game would give NDSU nine for 2007: home against Stephen F. Austin, Montana State, California Davis and Southern Utah, and on the road at Mississippi Valley, Minnesota, Cal Poly and South Dakota State.

Taylor said he still wasn’t sure if Montana State was a lock. It’s possible the Bobcats may buy out the NDSU contract to play a I-A game."
